Defying Decay are one of Asia’s most ambitious and internationally active heavy bands — a hyper-pop metal act from Bangkok blending crushing riffs, electronic sound design, and pop-leaning hooks into a sound built for global stages.
Their touring résumé spans Asia, Europe, Russia, and the US, where they’ve supported heavyweights including Motionless In White, Of Mice & Men, Born Of Osiris, Ice Nine Kills, Skindred, Atreyu, and Saosin. Their latest work, including the crossover single “Clouds” featuring Violette Wautier, marks the start of a bold new era ahead of their 2025 full-length album.
Defying Decay bridge modern metal, cinematic electronics, and melodic pop sensibilities — creating a sound that stands apart from both traditional metalcore and mainstream alt-pop. This identity has positioned them at the forefront of a new wave of Southeast Asian artists carving their place on the global heavy music map.
Between 2023 and 2025, Defying Decay released a run of singles that showcase their evolution and willingness to experiment.
• “21 Stitches” — amplified through TikTok collaborations with voice artist Krit Tone.
• “System of Sinners” — a fusion of disco-groove rhythms with low-tuned metal riffs.
• “Clouds” (feat. Violette Wautier) — an accessible, cinematic pop-metal moment that expanded their international fanbase.
• “MEANINGLESS!” — merging K-Pop-inspired phrasing with Nu-Metal heaviness.
• “HIDE & SEEK” — a post-rock-leaning ballad exploring emotional maze-like introspection.
This creative period leads into their upcoming 2025 album, the most ambitious and fully realised work of their career to date.
Live, Defying Decay are known for tightly executed, high-intensity performances driven by energetic stagecraft and polished production. Their touring history includes major festivals such as MAYDAY Fest (Singapore), Rock Alarm, Paradise Fest, Taiwan Music Fest, Vietnam Rock Fest, and Rite of Passage (Japan) — where they have earned a reputation for consistency, professionalism, and crowd-moving power.
Their discography includes:
• All We Know Is Failing (2015)
• Metamorphosis (2019)
• LHRTG911 – UK Live Album (2020)
Across their catalogue, Defying Decay continue to expand the possibilities of heavy music coming from Thailand — blending genres, cultures, and influences into a sound with genuine international reach. With their new album approaching, the band enters their strongest and most globally positioned era yet.
